Here's some fuselages on a train. Potato pic taken from model airfield.
These come out of Spirit Aerosystems and travel up to Washington to be assembled by Boeing

That's cool. Boeing must be a leading employer up there.

They were, until Spirit AeroSystems came in and took over. Now Boeing maintains a few small offices which I hear are going away soon.

Yup. Boeing was doing mod work for the government, they are on their way out if not already gone.
What spirit has now was Boeing, then they sold to Onyx who established Spirit.
I think Textron might be the biggest aerospace employer in Wichita now.

I visited Spirit a year or so ago. It is interesting to compare the lines for the 737 and the 787. On one you have a bunch of folks using rivet guns and on the other you have three people and a giant wrapping machine weaving a fuselage. Old and new in the same facility.

And an enormous kiln to bake the 787s composite fuselage. Which is moodier than a woman going through menopause.

Yeah, the autoclaves are huge. You could cook a lot of pizza in those ovens.
